At 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday June 24, guests to Boise State’s ExtraMile Arena will participate in a wholly unique event: an outdoor, in-vehicle experience featuring the airing of “Out of the Blue: A Film About Life and Football at Boise State” in the arena’s west stadium parking lot. The film was directed by Boise State alumnus Michael Hoffman.
Pre-sales begin Monday, June 15, with general ticket on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, via Ticketmaster. Tickets are general admission and of limited availability.
The drive-in style event will be preceded by special messages from Boise State University, Boise Mobile DJ and Boise State’s own David Dickman. The event, part of the B-Stage Sessions at ExtraMile Arena, is in partnership with Cumulus Media.
“B-Stage Sessions is a safe way to bring our community together to enjoy entertainment, while maintaining appropriate physical distancing,” said Lisa Cochran, executive director of ExtraMile Arena.
“We are excited to partner with ExtraMile Arena to bring a new entertainment option to the Treasure Valley this summer!” added Don Morin, regional vice president of Cumulus Media.
“Out of the Blue” is a documentary focusing on the 2006 underdog Boise State University football team, which came out of nowhere to defeat the perennial powerhouse and Big 12 Champion Oklahoma Sooners in what many have called the greatest college football game ever played.
The film follows a group of Boise State athletes from humble backgrounds who expected to be Bowl Championship Series contenders but were overlooked by the blue-chip programs.
In “Out of the Blue,” director Hoffman goes beyond the highlight reel to uncover what football has to teach young men and all of us about life.
Fifty percent of ticket proceeds will benefit Boise State student-athlete scholarship support through the Bronco Athletic Association Bronco Nation Fund.
A note about safety
All Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, State of Idaho and Boise State guidelines will be followed to keep guests safe. When outside of their vehicles, guests will be required to wear face masks and adhere to proper social distancing guidelines.
