The international literary journal Meniscus recently published Advising and Academic Support Center director Tomas Baiza’s non-fiction literary poem “Love Ritual.”
“Love Ritual” was selected from more than 1,000 works submitted to the issue, which was dedicated to the theme of disaster and resilience. Baiza originally wrote the piece as an exercise in using the senses and not objective descriptors to depict a scene.
“I chose to focus on a moment in which all I had at my disposal were raw senses since my ability to reason was severely compromised,” he said. “I am really pleased that the editors at Meniscus saw merit in the work and hope that the issue gives readers a distraction and maybe a little hope during these strange times.”
