Gautam Basu Thakur, an associate professor of English and director of critical theory, has published two new books.
The first, “Postcolonial Lack: Identity, Culture, Surplus,” is a monograph that examines the relationship between Lacanian psychoanalytic theory and postcolonial studies. It has been published by the State University of New York press (SUNY) as part of their Insinuations: Philosophy, Psychoanalysis, Literature series.

The second, “Reading Lacan’s Seminar VIII: Transference,” is a collection of commentaries on Jacques Lacan’s seminar on transference. Basu Thakur is the co-editor of this collection. Additionally, he co-authored the introduction/preface and contributed a chapter on anxiety and desire. This book has been published by Palgrave as part of their Palgrave Lacan Series.
