On Dec. 11, associate professor of geosciences Brittany Brand was invited to speak at a panel on the theme of “Women in STEM” hosted by the National Science Foundation. The event was held at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia.
Brand offered her perspective and career experiences as a volcanologist, as part of a greater discussion on what it means to be a woman in the STEM profession. At this panel, Brand was joined by a paleontologist, a space suit engineer and biodiversity scientist.
