The Office of Information Technology (OIT) asks Mac users to delay upgrading Boise State-owned computers to Apple’s latest desktop operating system, macOS 10.15 (“Catalina”), until testing is completed to ensure compatibility with all standard university software.
Catalina drops support for 32-bit applications and adds additional security requirements for applications and installers. Some software developers have yet to update their applications for macOS 10.15.
OIT expects to announce availability to the Boise State community by Dec. 1. This operating system update is compatible with most Mac desktops and laptops produced since 2012.
Information about new features in macOS 10.15 is available on Apple’s website.
