Contractors will be on campus beginning Oct. 2 to work on a campus-wide lighting upgrade project. The work will progress in stages along the campus “spine” from the Science Building to the Liberal Arts Building, with additional work happening near the Appleton Tennis Center and the Yanke Family Research Park. The work is projected to be completed by Jan. 3, 2020.
A total of 93 light poles are being replaced and for the purpose of consistency and safety, every fixture that comes down will be replaced and powered back up the same day.
The new lights will be more energy efficient and will have a higher light output to help eliminate dark spots between fixtures. Another benefit of the new lights is that they will match the design standard of other light poles recently installed around campus.
