Todd Cooper, the new director for economic development with the Division of Research and Economic Development, will be joining the campus community on July 1.
Formerly, Cooper was a senior leader for Wells Fargo Bank. Cooper has been a board member of the Boise Valley Economic Partnership since 2008, serving as treasurer for eight years and board chair for two years. In 2016, Cooper was recognized by the Leadership Boise Alumni Association with the Economic Impact Award in recognition of his consistent contribution to economic development.
“I see potential for the university to be an economic development catalyst for the region,” said Cooper. “Today more than ever, workforce availability and readiness determines the trajectory and success of businesses and communities. By listening to, and collaborating with, both campus and business leaders we can help deliver the workforce that will drive the future of the region.”
“We are excited about Todd Cooper joining the Division of Research and Economic Development,” said Harold Blackman, the interim Vice President for Research. “Todd brings a wealth of experience from his distinguished career in banking as well as an outstanding reputation in the Idaho and Pacific Northwest business community.”
Cooper received his MBA, as well as a bachelor’s in finance, from Idaho State University and is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School.
“My goal is to help create enough quality opportunities for every Boise State graduate who wants to stay in this market to be able to stay, and for the companies who have opportunities to grow in this market to find enough talent to help them achieve their goals.”
