Cheryl Hindrichs, associate professor in the Department of English, published a poem, “The Professor: Room 433,” in Ars Medica: A Journal of Medicine, the Arts and Humanities.
Abstract: Virginia Woolf’s account of the perspectives made possible by being recumbent in her essay “On Being Ill” are examined in this poem in the atmosphere of a long hospital stay. The surreality of the present moment based on technology and media is placed beside a remembered heightened reality from youth and literary excursions.
