Lisa Johnson

Lisa Johnson gave a keynote address during the International Map Industry Association Meetup in Arlington, Virginia in January.

In her address, Johnson described the Protected Areas Database of the United States (PAD-US), America’s official inventory of pubic parks and other protected areas. She also summarized efforts by the Federal Lands Workgroup to automate the translation of agency lands data into the PAD-US format, develop guidance for base map developers (Google, Esri, USGS National Map) to apply PAD-US and assist with the development of a new Federal Recreation Map.

The United States Geological Survey is expected to announce the release of PAD-US 2.0, a major update, after the partial government shutdown.
