Boise State University students have ever-widening opportunities to gain valuable professional experience through the university’s Work U program, which is open to undergraduate students of all majors and colleges.
Through Work U, students spend 10 hours per week at a local organization, in addition to class time during which they process what they learned and experienced at their organization. This year, Boise State’s Work U program has 98 opportunities for students to participate, including in the fields of human resources, environmental affairs, talent development, supply chain management, programming, cybersecurity and communications. Partner organizations include St. Luke’s Medical Center, Albertsons, Make a Wish Foundation, J.R. Simplot Company, Idaho Power and several state agencies.
The Arbiter recently published a story about Work U and how it impacted student Madison Greear. She said, “I owe my job to the (Work U program). Had I not met the people I did, I would not have the job I have now. I’m currently interviewing for the next role up and I am up for a promotion. I interview on Monday… This program has changed my life.”
