Celebrate International Education Week, hosted by Boise State’s Center for Global Education, Nov. 12-16 on campus. International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education that aims to promote international education and exchange activities, with the goal of preparing Americans for our global environment.
International Education Week events will include:
4-9 p.m. Nov. 11, Student Union Building (SUB), Jordan Ballroom
Celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with international students and community.
Noon-1 p.m. Nov. 12, SUB Brink Room
Learn from students who want to share their language during 15 minute mini language lessons.
Noon-1:30 p.m. Nov. 13, SUB Student Diversity Center
Come learn about Korean food culture by making Kimpap, a famous Korean roll. Organized by Yookyung Lee.
Noon-1 p.m. Nov. 14, SUB Simplot D Ballroom
Experience “The Positive Impact of International Travel on Teaching, Research, and Service in Education.” Lori Gray, director of music education, and Amy Wickstrom, a graduate assistant in music education, will discuss their recent summer travel to the International Society for Music Education conferences in Prague, Czech Republic, and Baku, Azerbaijan. Gray and Wickstrom will share their research, travel experiences, and how they plan to utilize what they have learned abroad in their classrooms and in the local Music Education community.
11 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 14, SUB Atrium
Learn about cultural exchange, as students from the Intensive English Program represent their home countries through posters and discussions about culture and language.
Noon-1 p.m. Nov. 15, SUB Brink Room
Why are scholars from around the world visiting Boise State to work and conduct research? Bring your lunch and come find out who they are, what they are doing, why they are doing it at Boise State and what knowledge they hope to take back with them.
Noon-1:30 p.m. Nov. 16, SUB Bergquist Lounge
A group of returned Peace Corps Volunteers will share stories about their service.
3-5 p.m. Nov. 16, SUB Jordan A Ballroom
