Boise State celebrates Homecoming 2018 Oct. 29-Nov. 3 with activities for students, alumni, faculty, staff and the community. The university will honor all six members of the Boise City Council as Distinguished Alumni, and former Boise State President Bob Kustra and his wife, Kathy, will serve as grand marshals for the homecoming parade.
The Distinguished Alumni Awards honor those with outstanding professional and personal accomplishments within their chosen profession. The awards will be presented at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, during the Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Awards Gala in the Stueckle Sky Center. The honorees are:
- Elaine Clegg, ’97, BA in art – Clegg has served on the council since 2003. She currently holds the position of council president pro tem. Clegg also works for Idaho Smart Growth where she specializes in providing community assistance by working with more than 20 Idaho communities.
- Scot Ludwig, ’82, BBA in performance management – Ludwig has served on the council since 2015. He is the founder of Ludwig Shoufleer Miller Johnson, LLP, and also serves as managing partner of Broad Street Properties, LLC, a downtown development company.
- Lauren McLean, ’02, MPA in environmental policy – McLean has served on the council since 2011. She runs a small business and serves on the Dean’s Council for the Boise State University School of Public Service.
- Lisa Sanchez, ’07, BA in communications – Sanchez has served on the council since January 2018. Sanchez has most recently worked as a paralegal/case coordinator for a local nonprofit serving low-income Idahoans, in particular victims of domestic violence and child abuse, in need of legal services.
- TJ Thomson, ’00, B.S. in political science – Thomson has served on the council since 2009. An Air Force veteran, Thomson also is a certified internal auditor and has worked for Idaho Power Company for a number of years where he currently serves as a regulatory compliance senior technical advisor.
- Holli Woodings, ’07, B.A. in English – Woodings has served on the council since January 2018. She also served as a state representative for District 19 in Idaho’s 72nd She is the founder of Woodings Group, a consultancy specializing in startup energy companies.
All are invited to visit campus for the annual Homecoming parade at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. The parade begins at the corner of University Drive and Theater Lane, and wraps up at University Drive and Denver Street. Bob Kustra served as president of Idaho’s largest university for 15 years. Under his leadership, Boise State became Idaho’s largest graduate school, earned a doctoral research university designation from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, achieved record enrollment and graduation numbers, and much more.
Homecoming week wraps up on Nov. 3 as the Broncos take on the BYU Cougars at 8:15 p.m. in Albertsons Stadium.
