The members of the Boise State Open Education Resources (OER) group invite staff to join Marilyn Billings from the Open Textbook Network at a partners workshop to learn more about open textbooks and ways you can support faculty who are exploring or interested in adopting them.
The workshop will cover defining OER; understanding what parameters qualify a resource as open and how to identify open licenses; increasing access; how affordability can impact student academic success and how open textbooks are one solution to affordability issues; supporting faculty through change; identifying faculty barriers to adoption of open textbooks and how to help overcome those barriers, including an introduction to the Open Textbook Library, sustaining OER, and ways to integrate OER support into campus and teaching workflows.
The workshop is taking place during the annual DigEco conference.
