The Department of Public Safety is offering a course, Crucial Conversations Training, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Nov. 29-30 at the Capitol Village #3 Emergency Operations Center, 2203 University Dr.
A crucial conversation, say organizers, “is a discussion between two or more people where stakes are high, opinions vary and emotions run strong. When we face crucial conversations, we can do one of three things: We can avoid them, we can face them and handle them poorly, or we can face them and handle them well. Come join us as we discover what a ‘crucial conversation’ is and how to master one. This is a very interactive course and will consist of a real conversation that you may be stuck in.”
Taking the course, say organizers, can help participants improve dialogue and engagement with others, create behavior changes and build a culture of high performance.
Tana Monroe, director of operations for the Department of Public Safety, will lead the course. Cost is $265. Contact Jan Webster for more information: (208) 426-3221.
