Academic development and recovery coordinator Karina Smith, academic development and recovery advisors Chelsee Rohmiller and Nicolas Diaz of the Advising and Academic Support Center, as well as Cathlene McGraw, an academic advisor for the College of Arts and Sciences, presented at the 42nd annual National Academic Advising Association conference in Phoenix Sept. 30-Oct. 3.

Their presentation, “Rebuilding Support: Academic Recovery Interventions to Promote Student Success,” outlined the process for building a new program focused on students experiencing academic difficulty, primarily those on academic probation or returning to Boise State following an academic dismissal.

They highlighted the development of Bronco Rebound, an online workshop required for all students on academic probation for the first time, in addition to ACAD 102: Academic Recovery and Success, a three-credit course designed for academically at-risk students. The presentation also included an introduction to Boise State’s new reinstatement process.
