Jaclyn Kettler was quoted in a USA Today article on the 2018 gubernatorial races. “Why corporations are pouring millions into sure-bet governor races” looked at donations to candidates considered likely to win re-election by comfortable margins.
The article, which appeared in the Friday, September 21 edition, explored such donations to safe seats as a means of courting influence and gaining access to candidates.
“A lot of times, big donors just want to keep things off the agenda,” said Kettler. “Most agree that at the very least it gets you more time and attention and an opportunity to actually share your policy needs.”
