Ruth Salter presented a paper titled “Absurd Passion: Camusian Revolt in Cante Flamenco” at the 18th Global Studies Conference in Granada, Spain, in July. Her presentation explored the expression of Albert Camus’ concept of absurdity in traditional flamenco lyrics and supported one of the main conference themes: socio-cultural dimensions of globalization. Salter also was selected for one of the conference’s Emerging Scholar awards.
Founded in 2008, the Global Studies Conference is held annually in different locations around the world, each selected for its particular place in the dynamics of globalization.
