Virginia Treat received a 2018 grant from the Alexa Rose Foundation to support a lighting kit upgrade. The foundation was founded in 2013 to provide substantial impact on the lives of creative residents of the Boise River Valley, giving them access to the catalytic experiences and skills they need to develop as artists and people.
The Foundation received 280 applications for funding in its most recent grant cycle totaling $1 million in requests. With only $150,000 in total funding available, the competition was significant. After a rigorous month-long review by panels of local artists, 67 visual, performing and literary artists and filmmakers were awarded grants. Since its formation, the Alexa Rose Foundation has granted over $390,000 to 182 local artists. In addition, the Foundation recently announced it will provide needed space for local artists to create, manage and share creative work within a facility to be called the Carnegie Studios.
