The campus community is invited to a retirement celebration for Janet Atkinson, executive director of the eCampus Center at Boise State.
The reception will be from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, May 10, in Room 207 of the the Ron and Linda Yanke Family Research Park, 220 E. Parkcenter Blvd.
During her 21-plus years in distance education and extended studies, Atkinson worked with hundreds of faculty and staff to advance the university’s online programming. She advocated for online students and helped develop the campus-wide infrastructure that now supports more than 14,000 students per year taking online courses. Under her leadership, the number of online courses, online programs, online services and online students has grown exponentially.
“Janet can retire knowing that she has made a meaningful difference to this University and to the students we serve,” said Mark Wheeler, dean of Extended Studies. “She has championed the anytime/anywhere flexibility of online learning and how it can extend access to Boise State courses and degrees to thousands across Idaho and beyond.”
