The work of Kate Walker is included in the annual New Zealand art awards and exhibition, New Zealand Painting and Printmaking Award 2018. Work is on display until Feb. 19 at Hamilton Gardens in Hamilton, New Zealand, during the Hamilton Arts Festival.
Walker’s work in the exhibition is part of an ongoing series of hand- or digitally-cut canvas “fence” paintings that combine newspaper phrases embedded in oil paint. The work also appeared in exhibitions in 2017: Select 2 at Garvey Simon in New York, New York, as well as Reunion – LGBTQA Symposium Show at the Greenly Gallery at Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.
