Kimball joined the Nanoscale Materials and Device Group in February of 2011. He is currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with minors in Physics and Material Science and Engineering. With a background in Industrial Design and Production Management he plans to continue his education to obtain a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Kimball is characterizing the nanoscopic physical and magnetic properties of Ni-Mn-Ga (a magnetic shape memory alloy) using scanning probe microscopy (SPM) techniques.
