Graduate Research Assistant
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Alex joined the research group in 2008 as a junior in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He implemented various programs in LabVIEW which automated both testing procedures and data acquisition in optical experiments. He investigated the enhanced transmission of plasmonic crystals due to surface plasmon resonance and presented his findings at the 2010 WMED conference. In 2009 Alex graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Boise State University.
In the fall of 2009 Alex started graduate school at Boise State University and continued working for the Knowlton group. His thesis is on the effects at that a DC current has on nonlinear optical phenomena in a 1D gold photonic crystal slab.
