Bio
John received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Boise State and his Ph.D. from Washington State University studying piezo-electric materials. Previously, he was a member of the Boise State Micron School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSMSE) working for Darryl Butt (with Mike Hurley and Brian Jaques) in the Advanced Materials Laboratory. In addition to his research responsibilities, he served as a teaching assistance, instructor, and mentor/advisor for a number of classes within the MSMSE and College of Engineering.
John has extensive manufacturing experience with more than 10 years production and facilities planning, project costing and planning, and tool design and fabrication. He was a key team member of start-up companies providing organization and solutions to manufacturing issues in inventory and production processes. His manufacturing experience includes metal fabricated goods, avionics, and ceramic and silicon microelectromechanical systems (MEMs) devices. His experience leading projects resulted in improved products, quality, and process throughput in multiple industries.
John will work closely with other members of the Quantum DNA research group and Nanoscale Materials and Device Group to characterize excitonic delocalization in DNA-templated dye aggregates using super-resolution fluorescent microscopy and fluorescent lifetime microscopy.
