Shirley Van Paepeghem received her master’s degree in Integrating the Arts in Curriculum through Lesley University and her BA in Music Education from Boise State University. Her teaching experience of 40 years includes secondary choral music, K-8 general music and private voice. Her area of teaching expertise is the young voice through adolescence. Mrs. Van Paepeghem is a Level Two certified Orff Music Instructor. She has been a guest presenter at both state and national education conferences and performs regularly as a jazz vocalist at the Sun Valley Jazz & Music Festival and Disneyland. She has served as the Idaho President of the Orff Schulwerk Association for music educators and the Elementary Repertoire and Standards Chair for the state chapter of the National Association for Music Education (NAfMe). She currently serves on the State Board of the Idaho Jazz Education Endowment. During the summers, Mrs. Van Paepeghem has taught choral music at the Young Musicians & Artists’ camp at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, Soundsation Jazz Camp at Edmonds Community College and currently is on the admin team for the NNU Vocal Jazz Camp in Nampa, Idaho.
