Audition Repertoire Requirements – Piano
Pianists should perform two or preferably three memorized solos from the major repertoire. These should be contrasting in mood, style, and/or time period. Representative pieces include:
- Bach: invention, prelude and fugue, or a movement from a dance suite
- Mozart, Haydn or Beethoven: first or last movement from a sonata
- Schubert, Chopin, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms or Liszt: any nineteenth-century work
- Debussy, Ravel, Bartók, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff or Gershwin: any twentieth-century work
