Admissions, Auditions, and Department Information
Who are we?
Here at the Boise State Department of Music, we pride ourselves on fostering artistic innovation and scholarly excellence. Led by a talented, world-renowned faculty, our goal is to create a supportive and challenging environment that fully embraces the musical richness of our world.
Whether you are a future educator, performer, composer — or simply a person interested in music and/or the industry — this is a place where you can explore and expand your musical horizons in whatever direction you choose.
Professional Collaboration Opportunities
Located in the heart of Boise, Boise State Music students are actively involved with the Idaho arts community. Often, students have the opportunity to collaborate and perform with numerous and varied professional arts groups and performers. On top of that, our students often receive discounted or free tickets to performances, masterclasses and lessons from touring professionals.
Some of our frequent professional collaborators include:
- Boise Philharmonic and Boise Philharmonic Master Chorale
- Boise Baroque Orchestra
- Idaho Shakespeare Festival
- Opera Idaho
- Treefort Music Festival
Relentless Faculty Innovation
Boise State is a force of intellectual curiosity and ingenuity. We continue to make game-changing discoveries and provide student-centered learning experiences. Our world-class faculty are eternally fueling this initiative and are the backbone of a Boise State Music education. They mentor students, expand knowledge through research, foster interdisciplinary learning opportunities and tackle the biggest challenges facing the world today.
