About Prof. Dye
Ryan Dye serves as Minister of Music for the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Boise and adjunct professor of organ at Boise State University. Prior to joining First Pres in 2017, Ryan enjoyed three years as organist and later Canon for Music at St. Michael’s Episcopal Cathedral in Boise. From 2000-2013, Ryan was Minister of Music for the historic All Pilgrims Christian Church in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle.
During his time in Seattle, Ryan served as Dean of the Seattle Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, chaired the 2009 AGO Region VIII Convention and was on the teaching faculty of the guild’s Pipe Organ Encounters in 2011. He holds degrees in Religion and Business Administration from Walla Walla University in addition to a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Organ Performance from the University of Washington. His teachers include Lester Groom, Edward Hansen, Kraig Scott, Carole Terry, Melvin Butler, and Douglas Cleveland.
In 1991, Ryan studied under Harald Vogel at the North German Organ Academy, performing on several renowned historic instruments throughout Germany and The Netherlands. Having been selected to study with Colm Carrey and Ann Elise Smoot in London in the summer of 2002, he performed on the organs of Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Cathedral, St. Giles Cripplegate, St. Lawrence Jewry, House of Parliament Chapel and the Church of St. Peter ad Vincula at the Tower of London.
Ryan has been a featured recitalist for Boise Music Week, St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Ketchum, Community Congregational Church in McCall, as well as a guest artist with the Boise Baroque Orchestra and Boise Philharmonic.
