Performances and Collaborations
It is an essential part of the creative process for composers to collaborate with performers and other artists and to hear their work performed. Composition students at Boise State regularly collaborate with student and faculty musicians to present high-quality performances of original works, including:
- Student composer chamber music concerts
- Performances and readings with the Boise State Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Winds, Jazz ensembles, choirs, and Bronco Percussion Ensemble
- Performances at the Treefort Music Festival
- Concert Class performances
- Opportunities to collaborate with other disciplines across the Boise State campus, including Film, Dance, GIMM (Games, Interactive Media and Mobile Technology), the Sciences, etc.
- Masterclasses and special guests
All of these performances and readings are recorded and become part of students’ professional portfolio of original works. This portfolio enables students to apply for professional opportunities and to help launch a career beyond graduation.
