Thursday, Aug. 29, the MER Institute and Boise State University welcomed Congressman Mike Simpson to campus. This visit was in part to thank Simpson for support that allowed Boise State to purchase a new dry/plasma etch machine for the Idaho Microfabrication Laboratory. This will upscale experiential learning and research opportunities for students, once again demonstrating how Boise State is leading in STEM education across the nation.
The MER Institute, along with many others, also had the opportunity to visit and show Simpson the Idaho Microfabrication Laboratory and some of the labs in the Micron Center for Materials Research building. The connection Boise State has with Simpson will help further STEM education initiatives at the university. As stated by Camille Platts-McPharlin, senior project coordinator at the MER Institute, “we were thankful to have had a visit from Congressman Simpson…to discuss the work we are doing and highlight the importance of his support.”
