Researching Order of Teaching – ROOT

ROOT is a part of Improving Grades 6-8 students’ mathematics achievement in modeling and problem solving through effective sequencing of instructional practices, a $3 million research project sponsored by the National Science Foundation (Award No. 1907840).  Since 2019, ROOT has worked with 100 grades 6-8 mathematics teachers to improve students’ learning of mathematics.

Project Goals

  • Collaborate with middle grades teachers of mathematics to design and develop well-articulated effective instructional practices for improving grades 6-8 students’ modeling and problem solving.
  • Collaborate with middle grades teachers of mathematics to compare sequences of effective instructional practices for improving grades 6-8 students’ modeling and problem solving.
