Idaho’s High School Math Badging project is part of a multi-state pilot project sponsored by XQ Institute that aims to energize high school mathematics and engage more students in rigorous, relevant, and diverse learning opportunities in junior- and senior-level courses. The Regional Math Centers at Boise State and Idaho State University have partnered with a small group of high schools across the state to implement a Badge Framework in various courses and contexts.
Project Goals
- Study and implement the Badge Framework in pilot schools with a focus on project- and problem-based approach to instructional design
- Develop and offer math courses aligned to a wider variety of college and career interests
- Positively influence students’ self-efficacy and course-taking patterns, leading to higher enrollment in Idaho’s dual credit math classes
