Interlibrary Loan Items
Items procured via Interlibrary Loan belong to another library. At the third overdue notice (30 days), the item will be considered lost and the borrower’s interlibrary loan account will be blocked. The library cannot accept replacements for lost Interlibrary Loan material.
Lockers
The library has 64 lockers on the third floor (outside of Room 302). Lockers are available to all currently enrolled Boise State University students. There is no per-semester cost. Keys can be checked out at the ASK Desk. Lost locker keys will be assessed a $40.00 replacement fee.
Lost and Damaged Books
Lost book replacement charges are $40.00. Books are considered ‘Lost’ after 30 days. Patrons receive one ‘courtesy notice’ before the item is due and two overdue notices before a final bill is sent. The library cannot accept replacements for lost material as we do collection development based on content replacement, not item replacement. If an item is returned after it has been billed, the cost of the item will be waived. If a lost book has been paid for then subsequently found by the patron and returned within six months, payment will be refunded except for a $25 processing fee.
Damaged book charges may vary depending on the damage and if the item is still usable. Non-usable books will be charged a $40.00 replacement fee. Please contact us for further information.
Lost and Damaged Technology
Lost charges are the cost of replacement of the item. Technology is considered ‘Lost’ after 1 day. Patrons will be billed as soon as the item is overdue. The library cannot accept replacements for lost technology. If an item is returned after it has been billed, the cost of the item will be waived. If a lost item has been paid for then subsequently found by the patron and returned within six months, payment will be refunded except for a $25 processing fee.
Damaged charges may vary depending on the damage and if the item is still usable. Non-usable items will be charged the cost of the item. Please contact us for further information.
Lost and Found
The lost and found is located at the ASK Desk on the 1st floor. All items will be taken to the SUB Information Desk or Campus Security each Friday.
Proxy
Boise State employees may provide permission for others to check out materials or pick up InterLibrary Loans in their name. In order to do so, the employee must fill out a Proxy Form authorizing the person(s) and agreeing to be responsible for those items checked out through proxy. Proxy requests can be submitted electronically through the Employee Proxy Use Form on the Albertsons Library website.
Renewals
An item can be renewed for four loan periods unless a hold has been placed on the item or the materials are required for Reserves.
You can renew your item:
- In Person: Stop by the ASK Desk
- By Phone: (208) 426-1204
- Online via the Online Catalog
- From the Albertsons Library homepage, select the Using the Library, Library Accounts, and then Your Library Account link.

- Select the materials you want to renew by checking the box next to the item.
- Select the “Renew Items” button at the bottom of your list
- Scan down your list of items to verify that the system was able to renew the selected materials.
Return Policy and Overdue Fines
Return Policy
Books may be returned in the book drops at the end of the ramp west of the Library’s front doors, the book drop at the end of the Circulation counter, or may be given to staff at the counter. A drive-up book drop may also be found in front of the Hemingway Center accessible from the Central Reserve parking lot.
Notices
Overdue notices will be e-mailed. Three (3) days prior to the due date, a courtesy notice will be sent. The first overdue notice will be sent 7 days after the due date, followed by a second notice 15 days after the due date.
Fines
Fines or fees are payable at the library ASK Desk by check or credit card.
