Silent film star Nell Shipman came to Idaho one hundred years ago believing she could turn the wilderness of northern Idaho into the film studio of her dreams. The reality that unfolded was as dramatic as the forest adventures Shipman wrote, produced, and starred in while living here.

Visit this exhibition, drawn entirely from materials preserved in Albertsons Library’s Special Collections and Archives, to explore this fascinating but fraught moment in Idaho’s cinematic history.
