Elvis Week celebrates the “King of Rock-n-Roll” each August in Memphis, TN. According to his Graceland biography, Elvis Presley went from living in a two-room shack in Tupelo, Mississippi to becoming a cultural phenomenon. He starred in 33 films, selling billions of records and regularly selling out performances.
Although he died August 16, 1977, Elvis remains a global pop icon to this day. The library is celebrating Elvis with a display of books, DVDs, CDs and LPs. Items on the display may be checked out. A few book titles to take a look at are Careless Love: The Unmaking of Elvis Presley and Elvis Culture: Fans, Faith & Image. Or, listen to some vinyl or a CD to hear his music. We even have DVDs!
