New contactless and curbside library services

Albertsons Library now offers more patron options that are contactless and don’t require a visit to the library building. This goes in hand with the University and Library’s increased health and safety protocols.

To better support the Boise community, the library has developed new services that include applying online for a Special Borrower’s card and receiving items through the library’s new Curbside Pickup services.

Earlier this year, the Department of Public Safety worked with Albertsons Library to enable use of the East Plaza Visitor lot parking booth for the library’s new Curbside Pick-up services. By providing access to a campus resource typically reserved for parking management, Public Safety helped the library be able to provide a safe, convenient way for patrons to get needed materials. To take advantage of this service, patrons can simply select “Curbside Pick-up’ when placing a Hold Request.

Changes are currently being implemented in response to the University encouraging a limited campus presence after the fall break and continuing until the start of spring semester.

While the library is still open, hold and interlibrary loan requests will default to Curbside Pick-up. Faculty and staff requests, typically placed on the hold shelves or mailed to their department, will also shift to Curbside Pick-up.

Patrons needing to use Curbside Pick-Up will be sent an email in which they can make an appointment to retrieve their items at the East Plaza Visitor lot (next to the big B) located on S. Joyce St. To assist in the ease of this transition, the library has expanded the times available to schedule each week to Monday-Friday, 9am-10am and Monday and Thursday, 5pm-6pm.
