About the Movement Academy

The Movement Academy at Boise State University is a comprehensive exercise training program for youth ages 14-17, designed to support both athletes seeking to enhance performance and individuals looking to improve general fitness, movement, and overall health. With two distinct camps, participants can choose the Athletic Performance Camp for sport-specific training or the Health & Fitness Camp for general fitness and movement development.

Two Camp Options to Fit Different Goals

1. Athletic Performance Camp (Limited to 10-12 participants per session)

  • Designed for: Athletes looking to improve speed, power, agility, and sport-specific strength
  • Focus Areas:
    • Explosive power & speed development
    • Strength & conditioning for sport performance
    • Agility, coordination, and movement mechanics
    • Injury prevention & recovery strategies

2. Health & Fitness Camp (Limited to 20 participants per session)

  • Designed for: Youth interested in improving overall fitness, strength, and movement quality—regardless of athletic background
  • Focus Areas:
    • Strength, mobility, and functional movement
    • Cardiovascular fitness & endurance
    • Injury prevention & movement efficiency
    • Building lifelong healthy habits

Expert Instruction & Science-Based Training

Designed by faculty in the School of Kinesiology, the program is led by Bachelor’s and Master’s level students with experience and expertise in strength and conditioning, human movement science, and exercise physiology. Training follows National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) guidelines and incorporates the latest research to ensure a safe, effective, and engaging learning experience.

Education Built into Training

In addition to hands-on coaching, Movement Academy includes an educational component during the second training session each week, covering topics critical to athletic and fitness development:

  • Week 1: Sports & Exercise Nutrition
  • Week 2: Fatigue & Recovery
  • Week 3: Training Outcomes: Power, Strength, Endurance, etc.
  • Week 4: Program Explanation & Future Application

Program Schedule – Summer 2025

Each camp runs in 4-week sessions, meeting twice per week for hands-on training in the School of Kinesiology’s weight rooms on campus. Each session is one hour, 45 minutes long, with small group sizes to ensure individualized coaching and a high-quality experience.

Health & Fitness Camp – General Fitness & Movement (Max 20 participants per session)

  • June 2025
    • June 2-25, Mondays & Wednesdays, 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM
    • June 3-26, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM
  • July 2025
    • July 7-30, Mondays & Wednesdays, 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM
    • July 8-31, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:00 AM – 11:45 AM

Athletic Performance Camp – Sport Performance Training (Max 10-12 participants per session)

  • June 2025
    • June 2-25, Mondays & Wednesdays, 8:00 AM – 9:45 AM
    • June 3-26, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 8:00 AM – 9:45 AM
  • July 2025
    • July 7-30, Mondays & Wednesdays, 8:00 AM – 9:45 AM
    • July 8-31, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 8:00 AM – 9:45 AM

Invest in Your Teen’s Health, Fitness, and Ability to Move Well

  •  $250 per participant
  • 14 total contact hours

$18 per hour or $31 per day

Parking

If parents choose to not drop-off/pickup, and have their participant drive instead, there is an hourly parking fee ($2.75/hour) for campus parking lots. The parking fee is not included in the Movement Academy registration fee, so please plan accordingly.
