Call for Nominations: Kinesiology Outstanding Graduate Student Award 2024

It is our pleasure to announce the call for nominations for the Kinesiology Outstanding Graduate Student Award 2024. The Kinesiology Outstanding Graduate Student Award recognizes exceptional academic achievement, leadership, teaching, and contributions to the field of Kinesiology. This award is given to a graduate student who has demonstrated outstanding performance in coursework, research, teaching, and/or professional activities. The recipient of this award has shown exceptional promise in the field of Kinesiology and is recognized for their significant contributions to the Department of Kinesiology and the broader community.

Eligibility:

● Must be enrolled in a Kinesiology graduate program and have completed at least one year as a Kinesiology graduate student.

Nomination Guidelines:

● Faculty, students, and other stakeholders in the Department of Kinesiology are allowed to nominate a student.
● When nominating a student, the nominator will need to be prepared to attach a PDF with the following information:

  1. A letter of recommendation written by the nominator. The letter should outline the candidate’s qualifications and how they meet the award criteria. [1-2 pages double-spaced, 12-point font, 0.5-inch margins minimum].
  2. A current CV or resume that lists the candidate’s education, relevant work experience, research and teaching experience, professional activities, and any other relevant qualifications or achievements.
  3. A personal statement from the nominee that highlights their achievements and future goals related to the selection criteria. [1-2 pages double-spaced, 12-point font, 0.5-inch margins minimum].

Selection criteria:

The candidates should excel in at least two of the areas listed below:
Academic excellence: The candidate has a strong academic record, including a high GPA (3.5 or higher) and outstanding performance in Kinesiology coursework.
Research excellence: The candidate has a record of exceptional research performance. Examples include publications, presentations, and other scholarly activities that demonstrate their potential to make significant contributions to the field of Kinesiology.
Teaching excellence: The candidate has demonstrated excellence in teaching and/or mentoring undergraduate students in the Department of Kinesiology. This may include developing innovative teaching methods, providing exceptional guidance and support to students, and receiving positive evaluations from students and faculty.
Professional activities: The candidate has demonstrated a commitment to professional development and engagement in the field of Kinesiology. This may include participation in professional organizations, service to the community, and other activities that demonstrate a commitment to advancing the field of Kinesiology.
Leadership: The candidate has demonstrated leadership potential and a commitment to advancing the goals of the Department of Kinesiology and the broader community. This may include leadership roles within the department or in other organizations, as well as a willingness to take initiative and pursue new opportunities.

Nomination Timeline:

Nominations must be submitted by January 31st, 2024. All applications will be reviewed by the Awards Committee and the recipient will be notified after the committee votes on the nominees.
