What is the “IDeA Program?”

The Institutional Development Award (IDeA) program was established by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 1993 to support states that have historically received low levels of NIH funding. IDeA programs enhance infrastructure, build research capacity, and improve proposal competitiveness of investigators in 23 states plus Puerto Rico. Idaho is considered an IDeA state and is therefore eligible to compete for secured funding reserved for improvement of research and resources in states with historically low levels of NIH funding.
