Nicole Chodkowski joined Boise State’s IFITS office as the Assistant Director in January 2025. She is an educator with a strong commitment to inclusive teaching and a biologist with a background in parasite
ecology.
In her previous position at Boise State, she worked with the Concurrent Enrollment program as the Faculty Development Coordinator where she provided guidance and support to 50-plus Faculty Liaisons across the University’s academic departments to continue offering quality concurrent enrollment courses.
Before joining the team at Boise State, Nicole was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Lawrence University and an Inclusive Pedagogy specialist. In addition to teaching, she helped build courses that are more inclusive by aligning content and learning objectives, building modules and activities to help students learn difficult content, and designing course policies that better support student success. Her interest and training in teaching started during her PhD program at Ball State University. It was
there that she gained a formal introduction to active learning practices and other professional development in teaching.
Nicole also was a postdoctoral associate at Cornell University working with faculty to build and implement active learning curricula for organismal courses. She enjoys working with faculty and exchanging ideas about how to support student success and help students build confidence in their own abilities to succeed. She is excited to develop research mentorship programming for faculty, postdocs, and graduate students here at Boise State.
