Don Winiecki
Bio
Don is the “Professor of Morality & Ethics in Professional Practice” in the BSU College of Engineering. His teaching, research, and service work focuses on improving inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) in higher education and especially engineering and computer science. He holds a doctor of education (EdD) degree in Instructional Technology, and a doctor of philosophy (PhD) degree in Sociology.
Scholarship
I am a braille transcriber and producer of tactile graphics (https://www.handid.org). I also collaborate in research with STEM academics and professionals who are blind, to improve the accessibility of STEM content and equipment, and in public venues (museums, libraries, medical and legal documentation, etc.).
I use my expertise in braille transcription, and my collaboration with others, to improve my skills and improve products for STEM students and professionals who are blind.
