We often hire for similar projects each year, so this offers an example of the type of work that may be available for our upcoming field season. Please check our most recent job postings as well as the TAMU job board for our current offerings. We typically begin posting summer positions in late December or January.

Location: Southern Idaho

Time Period: March 17 to May 25, 2024

Salary: $17-$20/hour DOE

Last Date to Apply: CLOSED

We are looking for avian biologists to join our team to assist with Pinyon Jay colony surveys and monitoring, primarily across southern Idaho. Duties will include survey site scouting, conducting Pinyon Jay surveys and vegetation surveys, monitoring colony activity, data entry, and keeping an updated daily log of surveys and mileage. Technicians will conduct surveys in potentially suitable habitats that especially include shrub-steppe, pinyon-juniper, other coniferous forest types, and edges between these. Positions will begin March 17 and end May 25, 2024 (limited flexibility in the start or end date might be possible), with an option for continuing work on other projects until the end of July.
