What is the difference between Non-Exempt and Exempt employees? Benefit Eligible vs Non-Benefit Eligible?
Non-Exempt employees are hourly employees that are eligible for overtime and have a requirement to submit a timecard. Most Classified positions are Non-Exempt.
Exempt employees are salaried employees that pay the same amount each week with a minimum weekly salary of $684. Instructional/Teaching positions as well as Professional Staff are Exempt.
Benefit Eligible employees are Regular employees who have a PCN and work 20 or more hours each week for 5 or more consecutive months. This makes these employees eligible to receive benefits provided through the University.
Non-Benefit Eligible employees are Temporary employees who do not have a PCN, work 19 hours or less each week, or work 20 or more hours each week for less than 5 months. These employees are not eligible to receive benefits provided through the University.
