You Asked, We Answered: FAQs

I WANT TO WORK AT BOISE STATE UNIVERSITY. HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT JOB OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE?

All of our open positions can be found on our Boise State Careers website.

HOW LONG WILL THE APPLICATION BE OPEN?

Our job applications will close at 11:55 pm on the closing date that is listed on the bottom of the posting. If the closing date is blank, this means the position is open until filled.

IS THERE A LIMIT TO HOW MANY JOBS I CAN APPLY FOR?

There is no limit to the number of applications you can submit. We encourage you to apply to as many positions as you are interested in. You will need to submit a separate application for each position to be eligible for consideration.

WHERE CAN I FIND MORE INFORMATION ABOUT SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION?

You can refer to our How to Apply and Candidate FAQ for further assistance with submitting your application.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SUBMIT MY APPLICATION?

You will receive an email from employment@boisestate.edu informing you that your application is now under review by the search committee.

The search committee is the group of individuals who will be evaluating your application, conducting interviews, and ultimately selecting the candidate that will be hired for the position.

WHY DID I RECEIVE A SCORE ON MY APPLICATION?

  • For benefit-eligible classified positions, we are required to include questions on the application that are scored. We must then share that score with the candidate.
  • To receive a 100, the candidate must agree that they meet the minimum qualifications for the job. Candidates eligible for veterans’ preference will have additional points added to their exam score.
  • This score does not guarantee an interview or a job offer. If you receive a 100 or higher, this means you passed the initial screening process and now the committee will review your qualifications to determine how to proceed.

WILL MY APPLICATION BE REVIEWED BY A REAL PERSON OR BY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?

Your application materials will be reviewed by the individuals serving on the search committee for the position. Boise State does not utilize automated screening systems for applicant review at this time.

You will either:

  • Receive an email from employment@boisestate.edu informing you that the search committee has decided to proceed with other candidates at this time.
  • Be contacted by the department directly to invite you to interview for the role.

You will be contacted at the phone number and/or email address that you provided on your application.

HOW WILL I SCHEDULE MY INTERVIEW?

The department will either schedule your interview with you directly via email or a phone call, or they may choose to schedule your interview through our Applicant Tracking System (ATS). If they are scheduling your interview through our ATS, you will receive an email asking you to log in to your Applicant Portal and select a time slot from the available options. If the time slots that are offered conflict with your schedule, you may reach out to employment@boisestate.edu.

HOW DO I REQUEST AN ACCOMODATION FOR MY INTERVIEW?

You are welcome to reach out to our Human Resources and Workforce Strategy Office at (208) 426-1616 or employment@boisestate.edu to request a reasonable accommodation.

HOW LONG WILL MY INTERVIEW BE?

Interview length will vary depending on the position, the department, and how far along you are in the interview process. However, typically you can expect your interview to last 30-minutes to an hour.

HOW MANY ROUNDS OF INTERVIEWS WILL THERE BE?

The number of interviews will vary depending on the department and the role you have applied for. Generally, you can expect an initial phone screening, and then between one to three interviews if you are invited to continue in the selection process. Further interviews may require an exam or a presentation.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF I GOT THE JOB?

The department will reach out to you and extend a verbal offer. Your offer will be contingent upon a background check and satisfactory references checks.
