Health and Wellness

Boise State University Health Services offers Health and Wellness Services for all Boise State employees. Both service areas of University Health and Recreation are housed in the Health Center on the first two floors of the Norco Building.

Health Services

Medical Services include a full range of primary care, referral and educational services, focusing on your specific health needs.  A team approach is utilized for referrals and continuity of care (both internal and community networks). Staff includes board-certified physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered and licensed practical nurses and certified medical assistants. Insurance plans can be billed for medical services.

Medications — Health Services provides dispensary (pre-packaged) medications with a limited formulary. This is a self-pay service, with no insurance billing.

Health Services is in-network with Blue Cross, Regence, TRICARE and the Idaho Physicians Network (IPN).  Please call 426-1459 to make an appointment. Walk-in service is also available.

Wellness Services

The purpose of Boise State Wellness Services is to empower individuals in their lifelong commitment to health by providing comprehensive wellness resources to the campus community.

Health Coaching— The Health Coaching Program helps motivate individuals to change behavior through a supportive partnership, and by helping them set healthy goals in a safe and effective manner.  Health coaching is available for: alcohol and other drugs, nutrition, sexual health, sleep, stress, time management, tobacco cessation and weight management. Health coaching is not a service to replace current treatment by a medical or counseling provider.

Health and Wellness Release Time— In support of the university’s commitment to the health of its employees, the President has authorized release time of up to 60 minutes per week for those employees desiring to participate in health and wellness activities during work hours. Supervisory approval is necessary to determine when this release time can be utilized during the workweek.  Please fill out the required form, found at www.boisestate.edu/broncofit/broncofit-wellness-release-time/

Please note

The release time process has changed as of September 2018. The form no longer needs to be sent to Health Services, but will stay between the employee and the supervisor. It is encouraged to review annually or as needed. For questions or to find out more about on-campus wellness programs, contact Kenzie Sorrells at kenziesorrells@boisestate.edu.
