Benefits at a Glance

Boise State provides a comprehensive and highly competitive benefits package for university faculty and staff. Employees who are hired to work 20 or more hours per week for five (5) consecutive months are benefit-eligible and some benefits are available to all employees, regardless of their benefit status. Benefits extend beyond healthcare coverage to support the whole employee experience including wellness initiatives, professional development, tuition assistance, retirement savings, and much more. Health and Wellness Benefits

Health, Prescription and Vision Insurance

Supplemental Health, Life and Disability

Family and Medical Leave Act

The Family and Medical Leave Act provides information about unpaid leave up to 12 weeks for the birth or adoption of a child; to care for a seriously ill family member; or for a serious illness. Family and Medical Leave Act webpage.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides free, confidential short-term counseling services to eligible employees and their families. Employee Assistance Program webpage

Wellness Services Release Time

The university offers employees up to 60 minutes per week of health and wellness release time, with supervisor approval.  Health and Wellness Release Time webpage.

Recreation Center

The Recreation Center offers employees reduced rates on the use of gym facilities and fitness classes. Recreation Center webpage.

University Health Services

The University Health Services provides employees with on-site and telehealth appointments for medical, counseling, dietetic and overall wellness. Health Services webpage.

End of Coverage

At the end of employment, health coverage continues through the end of the month if the last day of employment is before the fifteenth (15) of the month or through the end of the following month if the end of employment is on or after the fifteenth (15) of the month. COBRA

The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA) provides continued medical and dental coverage for limited periods of time, after eligibility for group health care coverage ends. COBRA section of the End of Employment Compensation and Benefits webpage.

Lactation Rooms

Family Caregiver Network

Retirement

Mandatory retirement plans are provided to benefit-eligible employees through the Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho (PERSI) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). Required Plans webpage.

Training, Development, and Tuition Benefits

Tuition and Fee Waiver

The Tuition and Fee waiver allows benefit-eligible employees, their spouses and dependent children through age 25 to attend classes at reduced fees. Tuition and Fee Waiver Benefit webpage.

Development Release Time

Annual and Sick Leave
