Purpose

The purpose of this job is to assist the director in carrying out the review, assessment and professional development of all general education courses.  This position has administrative responsibility for coordination of complex academic program elements requiring collaboration with students, faculty, and other departments and programs.

Level Scope

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity.  Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action.  May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written & Oral skills.
  • Knowledge of student learning theory.
  • Knowledge of assessment approaches.
  • Good organizational, written and verbal communication skills in the preparation and presentation of results.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Able to effectively prioritize and work on multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines and demonstrate excellent time management skills and efficiency.

Essential Functions

Key Responsibilities

60% of Time the Academic Program Administrator must:

  • Facilitates the delivery of required program services.
  • Analyzes data, generates and/or assists with, and disseminates periodic reports (monthly and semester).
  • Responsible for interpreting and implementing new and current program regulations determined by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Assist the Director in preparation of the Annual Performance Reports.
  • Tracks all components with assurances made toward eligibility and numbers of participants.
  • Provide the Director with regular progress reports regarding the progress and general health of the program, particularly regarding all accomplishments towards meeting fundamental program objectives.
  • Provide support to student groups.
  • Planning and executing assigned projects and operations within the specified department
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Some positions may involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds; some positions may involve moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 70 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; working in all weather conditions; exposure to high noise levels and require wearing hearing protection.
