Sick and Annual Leave Accrual

Sick Leave

All benefit-eligible employees earn sick leave at the rate of .04615 hours per hour worked.  This applies to classified, professional, and faculty employees.  All benefit-eligible faculty and staff are required to report sick leave absences through Time and Labor.

Annual Leave

Annual leave accrual is based on employment classification and may only be used with supervisor approval, with reporting through Time and Labor.

Faculty

Most faculty do not accrue annual leave as they are expected to take leave during breaks in the academic cycle.
Faculty on 12-month contracts and those who work over semester breaks earn vacation on the professional staff schedule.

Professional Staff Employees

Professional employees who are not eligible for overtime accrue annual leave at 0.0924 hours per hour worked (approximately 7.39 hours per pay period for full-time employees), with a maximum accrual of 240 hours.  Once an employee reaches the indicated maximum accrual, leave will cease accruing until the balance is reduced.
