Retiring Checklist
Thank you for your time and service at Boise State University! Your contributions have made a lasting impact, and we are grateful for the work you’ve done during your time here.
As you prepare for the next chapter, we have created resources to help make your transition as smooth as possible. Follow the checklist below to get started. Enjoy your retirement!
PERSI
Participants (classified employees and those vested) in the PERSI retirement plan with 60 or more months of service are eligible for a monthly retirement benefit for life. The benefit amount is based on your earnings, credited service, and age at the time you begin receiving payments. If you are not vested in PERSI, you have the option to withdraw your contributions plus interest or leave your funds in the plan if you anticipate returning to state service. For more information, visit their website or call 208-334-3365 or 1-800-451-8228.
ORP
Professional employees who are not vested in PERSI are 100% vested in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) through Fidelity, which entitles you to both employee and university contributions, as well as any earnings on your investments. You can choose to leave your funds invested with your selected vendor or contact them for information on accessing your funds through direct distribution or rollover after you separate from employment.
SRAs
If you have a PERSI Choice 401(k), 403(b), or 457(b) plan, you can choose to leave your funds invested or reach out to your vendor for options regarding accessing your funds through direct distribution or rollover after your employment ends.
