The following are required trainings with instructions on how to access and complete them by their designated deadlines. New benefit-eligible employees are required to finish these trainings within 30 days of their start date with the exception of Respectful Workplace, which will be assigned to all benefit-eligible employees and due in March.
Employee Policies and Expectations Review
All employees (including students, faculty, adjunct faculty, and staff, but excluding temporary or part-time employees) are required to read and understand our policies and expectations at the university outlined in this training. New employees will be automatically enrolled in this course on their first day of employment and can access this training through their Canvas Dashboard. Email learning@boisestate.edu with questions.
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that restricts the release of student information without their written consent. To ensure compliance with this law and protect student data, all employees (students, faculty, and staff) with access to student records are required to complete this training. These employees are automatically enrolled in this course on their first day of employment and can access this training through their Canvas Dashboard. For more information and other ways to access the training visit this page. Email regmail@boisestate.edu with questions.
Clery Act and Crime Reporting
The Clery Act and Crime Reporting Training covers Boise State’s obligations under the federal law known as the Clery Act. All employees (students, faculty, and staff) take this training, and those employees specifically identified as “Campus Security Authorities (CSA)” complete this training or the refresher training course annually. New employees will be automatically enrolled in this course on their first day of employment and can access this training through their Canvas Dashboard. For more information about this training visit this page. Email crimereporting@boisestate.edu with questions.
Respectful Workplace
Respectful Workplace Training (12 minutes) provides employees with the tools to prevent and report harassment and discrimination, fostering a safe and supportive environment at our university. This annual training is launched in March and must be completed by the end of March in order to be eligible for Change in Employee Compensation (CEC). All employees (including students, faculty, adjunct faculty, and staff, but excluding temporary or part-time employees) will be automatically enrolled in this course in early March after their start date and can access this training through their Canvas Dashboard. Email learning@boisestate.edu with questions.
Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity Training (18 minutes) is mandated by the Idaho Office of Information Technology Services and educates employees about potential cyber threats and how to protect university data. All benefit eligible employees (faculty and staff) will be automatically enrolled in this course on their first date of employment and will be able to access this training through their Canvas Dashboard. Currently, we are transitioning this training module to Canvas, so only new employees hired after April 1, 2025 will see this module listed on their dashboard. After first completing it, employees will be required to complete it twice a year in March and October (Cybersecurity Awareness Month). This training must be completed annually in order to be eligible for Change in Employee Compensation (CEC). Email learning@boisestate.edu with questions or access concerns.
CEC Trainings due in March
All benefit-eligible employees and adjunct faculty are required to complete both Respectful Workplace and Cybersecurity Trainings to be eligible for Change in Employee Compensation (CEC). These mandatory trainings will be made available on your Canvas Dashboard on March 3, 2025 and will be due March 31, 2025.
