Return to Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action
Boise State University has a strong policy of equal employment opportunity and nondiscrimination. The University does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, age, color, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or national and ethnic origin. It is the policy of Boise State University to provide equal employment opportunity to all applicants and employees in compliance with all applicable laws. This basic policy applies in all employment relationships. It is also the policy of Boise State University to ensure a workplace that is free from harassment. The University will take prompt and appropriate action to prevent, correct, and if necessary, discipline behavior that violates this policy. All members of the University community are responsible for participating in the creation of a campus environment free from all forms of unlawful discrimination.
Nondiscrimination and Affirmative Action Policy
1060 Non-discrimination and anti-harassment policy and the University’s Anti-Harassment Policy (see below) provide recourse for applicants, employees and students who believe they may have been the victim of discrimination or harassment. The EEO/AA Office is responsible for facilitating the investigation and resolution of these complaints. The EEO/AA Office uses a formal non-advocacy fact-finding investigation process that includes interviewing witnesses and compiling supporting documents. If there is a preponderance of evidence indicating a finding of discrimination or illegal harassment, different actions may be taken. These actions range from requiring the respondent to enroll in related educational programs to the more severe consequence of termination of employment.

Boise State’s Anti-Harassment Policy
Equal opportunity statement addresses harassment in all forms. It covers individuals with legally protected status for reasons of race, gender, religion, color, age, national origin, ancestry, or disability, as well as individuals who are harassed for other reasons, such as sexual orientation. Complaints of illegal harassment follow the procedures outlined in the policy and will be investigated by an outside investigator. Other types of harassment will be handled through the University’s Problem Solving Process described in the Grievance Policies for Faculty and Professional Staff and the Problem Solving and Due Process Policy for Classified Employees. An example of this other type of harassment might be the manager who continually and detrimentally employs ridicule or belittlement to express dissatisfaction with an employee’s performance.
